British History in 50 Events From First Immigration to Modern Empire (Audible Audio Edition) James Weber Damien Connolly Books
This brief book helped clarify numerous points of British history that I'd not understood before. But its selection of events seemed less about important people or events than to establish a certain point of view. For example, we learn that British Suffragette Emily Davidson threw herself under the king's horse; but is that really more important than, say, the contributions of Charles Dickens (who isn't even mentioned) to British literature and social reforms? This tendency, along with the book's typographical errors and occasional clumsy construction, lead me to look elsewhere for a serious introduction to the history of the magnificent British people.Product details

British History in 50 Events From First Immigration to Modern Empire (Audible Audio Edition) James Weber Damien Connolly Books Reviews
I really enjoyed this book. Quickly ot the point, it gives a great background for a country that so long ruled the world. The only shrtcoming is that it is short, as it was intended to be.
Poorly written, poorly edited, with many spelling and grammar errors, this book would not make it past a high school English teacher's cursory inspection.
Good way for those of us who are not academics to receive an overview of British history. The better insight for me is the chronology, when events took place in relation to other events. It is good to be able to keep straight when events take place in relation to other events; when events take place in one country in relation to events in other countries and sometimes have an impact in both directions.
History of every places or countries is interesting for me and I am glad I have found this book. The 50 events that are stated in this book has given me the opportunity to imagine the things that happened in the past and the best part was it also has pictures of the places like the tomb, the wall etc. This book would really be great for individuals who wanted to learn more about it specially if you are students.
What a fantastic and interesting new way to learn history! I'm so happy I found this book. The writing is highly educational but it is also extremely immersive at the same time. And that's what I really appreciated with this book. It really made me curious to keep on turning the pages and learn more about British history. You don't need a 1000-page book to learn what needs to be learned about this subject, just get this one and you'll be way better off. Trust me. Job well done, James Weber!
I wanted to get up to speed on Great Britain. I have always felt that most of the history I knew about this amazing country was a list of bits and pieces of different events and cultural icons. However, after reading this book it all hangs together in my head much better. I am amazed at the deepness and richness of the history of Great Britain. The best part is that it is in lists which are extremely easy to follow along with. I wish I had this resource when I was studying European history in school!
Time travel the Great Britain with this book. Get transported to various eras in British history with just a few clicks. You’d think reading a history book would be deathly boring, but the author was able to turn the experience into an enjoyable one. Very easy read with engaging pictures. I love history, and I love it even more when it’s presented like this! Highly recommended to students and history buffs!
