HIGHLAND DAWN…inspired by Kathryn Le Veque’s The Lion of the North.
Loyalty, honor, and obligation dictate Keith Starkey’s return to his Highland wife and their loveless marriage. He must leave behind a shy English lass who nursed him back to health after he was gravely wounded and left for dead at the battle of Towton.
Daughter of a murderous traitor, Aurora de la Londe is abandoned by her domineering father when he switches his allegiance to the Yorkists.
She needs a champion, but Keith cannot be that man, despite his attraction to her.
The convent offers Aurora’s only escape from the desolation of a broken heart and the threat of vengeance from the Lancastrians for her father’s treachery.
It seems unlikely these two mismatched souls will find the path to happiness—unless fate intervenes.

Judging by your other critiques, I'm the lone wolf on this. Can't believe that Rheade's and Margaret's first child and daughter was written with a loveless marriage. And on top of that, she died in childbirth. She wasn't even mourned, not even with one tear of love. Being a mother of 3 daughters, it struck me with sadness.Keith did betray Jocelyn. He gave his heart, his love, and his family broach to someone else. Their was nothing left for Jocelyn, no matter how you spin it. He was not honest with her brothers. I doubt they would have stood by him if they knew the actual truth. Can't believe Jocelyn would have married someone that didn't love her or she him.
Had to knock off one star because it was Jocelyn that was betrayed. Couldn't get excited over the wedding. Bypassed the wedding night.
Love reading Anna Markland, but this left me with a heavy heart.

World of de Wolfe Pack Highland Dawn Worlds Novella edition by Anna Markland Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I thoroughly enjoyed this love story of Keith and Aurora and how it was methodically intertwined with Kathryn Le Veque's Lion of the North. I loved how Anna Markland wove this emotional story and am excited for Book #3 of The Calendonia Chronicles, Roses Among the Heather, for Blair and Craig's stories! Highly recommended!
Another great Highland read. The characters were wonderful and the story believable. I wish the ending had been drawn out more...her meeting his son and starting to raise him as her own, would have been nice but it jumps four whole years...otherwise, it was a great walk through a bit of my ancestral history.
Loved this story. Am a big fan of the books from Kathryn le veque, so any books written refuriring to those characters is appreciated. I loved Keith and Aurora's story. Glad it turned out she wasn't actually related to de la Monde. Couldn't stand him and he was a murderer. Great job Anna.
I really enjoyed, Highland Dawn, written by Anna Markland! It well written and was fun to read. It's a story of love, loyalty and honor.
I loved her two main characters Keith and Aurora, daughter of a murderous traitor. Despite that their journey is filled with twists and turns, destiny will reunite those two beautiful souls.
This author never disappoints me!
Characters from Le Veques LION OF THE NORTH play an integral part in the story. A Highlander fights in the War of the Roses. Badly injured he finds his why back to a de Wolfe holding. A young lady, the daughter of a knight who betrayed his army, comes to his rescue and saves his life. But there are obstacles to their love. Moves very quickly to an HEA.
I have not read much fan fiction and was delightfully surprised by this novella. There’s no need to read the original story first, though it certainly adds to the enjoyment of the novella. With well-developed characters, a clever twisting plot, a great sense of setting, and a romance that leaves you longing for more, I recommend this story and look forward to reading more of this author’s books!
This is the first story I have read by Anna Markland and I enjoyed it. The setting and the characters make this an enjoyable quick read.
Badly wounded Scot Keith Starkey manages to limp into a friendly holding after a Yorkist battle. There he meets lovely Aurora de la Londe,, a shy maiden who is the daughter of a traitor. Aurora is gentle soul, pretty much abandoned by her father. She has such a strong reaction to Keith that she insists on nursing him. The two form a tight emotional bond during Keith’s convalescence but he is married and he is noble minded. Even though there is not love between him and his wife, Keith will not forsake his vows and he does not keep his marriage a secret from Aurora.
This couple, even while apart, has a connection. This is because they keep the memories of each other in their hearts. Like many couple separated by either circumstances or distance, they replay the feelings they experience and the love just seems to grow stronger. This is a sweet novel with a lovely couple that the reader will root for from their first meeting.
